My grandmother’s 90th birthday is this month, and her husband’s is next. (He likes to remind her that he’s younger than she is.)
We had a rather big shindig yesterday. It was a real coming together. Friends and family from a lifetime.
Family came from all over the state and the country: Michigan, Salt Lake City, Texas . . . We had five generations, from the ninth decade to the youngest born on December 17.
And after an exhausting but rewarding day with the extended family, then my parents, sister and I went out to dinner and gathered to watch the boys in blue pull off a pretty little defeat of the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL playoffs.
Quoth the Peyton, `Nevermore.’
